New Garden Hotel

Reasonably priced accommodation right in the city center

Pros: Both the location and the breakfast were very good, the staff was friendly.

Cons: Although it looked very modern at first, it's time to renovate the ceiling in the room, it had severe water damage. A common problem in the Dominican Republic is the lack of towel racks.

Great place, location close to the beach Alicia

Pros: Overall the experience was good, room very clean, great service, friendly staffs, close to the beach and shops and gyms, etc

Cons: In my case how I was travelling with kids People on the garden was smoking weeds

What an experience.

Pros: The hotel & location were absolutely excellent. The weather, it was hot. The beach & Everything you need is within walking distance. The food was truly amazing at a fair price. The hotel room overlooked the swimming pool & the views were stunning. The room was clean with all mod coms. The room was spacious & catered to all my needs. The power shower was out of this world. The staff did their best to make sure my every need & comfort were taken care of. If you like excitement & adventure, & a good challenge, you will find it here for sure. Just remember to tip & you will get a better experience. I met so many wonderful & interesting people who welcomed me like a family member. I was treated like a king. That was the holiday experience of a lifetime.

Cons: I was not happy with the scams they employed to get money out of you & they have better ones that i have seen. If you park your car outside the hotel. They will tell you they could not open a door & remove a dustbin. The individual will then demand you pay 2000 on the spot. No negotiation. They won't call or come to your room & ask you to park your car in the designated area. Which would have been the intelligent thing to do. Being that they see you park there & walk right past them. You have to be really vigilant about your day. Everywhere you go, someone wants to do something for you or tries to sell you something you don't want at what they call gringo prices or begging money from you aggressively. They will tell you stories about their financial difficulty & how you can best help them out. You will get no peace! When you go for your daily walk, someone will lay in, wait & latch onto you & once they latch onto you, you're in trouble & you have to pay to get rid of them. They will be demanding money with underling menaces. If you want peace, stay in the hotel which as security & is safe or pay a local to walk around with & let them negotiate prices for everything. I had a better time than the occasions that were awful and apart from unauthorised persons known or unknown trying to use my card for unlawful payments in double figures to book hotels here there & everywhere & my bank declined payments. I would say you have to be firm with them & in some cases you may have to raise your voice because they will be shouting at you & trying to scare you. Because they want you to give them your money. If you give them money, say 100, they will come straight back & say you only gave them 10 & then demand another 100 from you. These are some of the ways local mafioso male/female works. So! be prepared to defend yourself when you're solo. Because you will get pressed.

Pros: The room was constantly kept clean by great room service in a prime location.

Cons: There were a few power outages, albeit breif, but would put that down to the region rather than the hotel itself.
